Marathon Row - Reading to Windsor - 8th/10th June 2012
In “austere times” it is very easy to become insular and lose sight of the “great” happening around us. The Lions Club of Windsor aims to embrace this “greatness” and encapsulate it in the 2012 Marathon Row...
“A celebration of serving our country and communities”

Royal Thamesis – (A Royal State Rowing Barge) will lead the flotilla of unpowered and powered craft Reading to Windsor over three days. The flotilla will be launched by a dignitary in Reading and we will aim to have dignitaries join us at various stages of the journey to launch the beginning of each day. We plan to have the relevant (to that stretch of the Thames) local media involved on each day’s activities. It is proposed that the funds raised from this event will benefit SportsAble (formerly WAMDSAD), as well as the Drapers Company plus others.
Four great pillars of celebration
· 60 years of our Queen Elizabeth II
· 50 years of Lions Club of Windsor serving our community
· 95 years of the Lions Clubs serving communities around the World
· 2012 Paralympics
