Windsor Lions in the news - November 2005
MENCAP candlelight dinner
Another
spectacular event will be held in he prestigious Guildhall Windsor on Friday the
25th November.
The event
‘A gentlemen’s candlelit dinner’ is a ‘sell out’ every year, and has raised well
over £100,000 during its long run.
This year
will be even better than previous years = apart from a sumptuous meal and excellent
wine there is entertainment from the internationally famous Mr Tony Jo – voted the
‘after dinner speaker of the year ‘ for which he won a coveted award, and then he
was voted Top Comedian by the Variety Club of Great Britain.
There
will be an auction for at least one stupendous item, and a raffle to raise much
needed funds for MENCAP.
A strong
contingent from the Lions Club of Windsor will be there as always and they will
start the evening with the presentation of a cheque for £2,000.
Other community service organisations will be there as well.
Guest
of honour will be the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor
Eric Wiles. The host for the evening
will be Douglas Hill the first Mayor of Eton.
