‘A trio of young musicians win Fennymore Bursaries’
When Tony Fennymore died his family was determined to ensure that his name lived on. A devotee of traditional Jazz, and a long standing member of Windsor Lions - - the two interests came together after Tony’s funeral.
Money donated by his many friends enabled the Lions to set up a fund to be dispersed in the form of bursaries to young people showing an exceptional musical talent.
The first three youngsters (all under the age of eleven) will each receive £150 during 2008 to help them make the musical grade.
Simon Phillips a member of the Lions Club has worked closely with the Berkshire Maestros to ensure the success of this venture.
Simon said that at this very early stage we cannot tell what the outcome will be – but for sure it will enable three young people to improve their chances of success. He went on to say that perhaps in the future this could be the forerunner of a ‘Young Musician of the Year competition’
