Swimathon
"The Swimathon run by the Windsor Lions is a fantastic event that combines fund raising and the promotion of Healthy Living. The Windsor Boys School Boat Club has been raising money at the event for several years now, and the rowers that take part in the event enjoy it because it is competitive and purposeful. ...”
Mark Wilkinson - Windsor Boys School
"One of the main reasons why I involve my Guides in the Swimathon is the excellent way that it is organised. It is efficient and easy to participate in. Everything is thought of for me and all I have to do is to encourage the girls to take part, to collect sponsors and then swim the of course collect the money! There is always a friendly rivalry going on in the pool and supporters can be involved too, and this encourages the swimmers. It only takes about 90 minutes to complete and we now, very generously receive 110% of the money that we raise back - bonus! There are slots throughout the day to suit everyone. The initial attraction was it is quick, efficient and fun!!"
Lesley Wagg - 3rd Slough Guides
"I initially entered a team into the Swimathon five years ago thinking of it as a one-off way to raise money for Windsor Youth Talk, at the same time knowing it would raise cash for the Lions - a win-win situation. It was such a great fun day with lots of laughter and all involved had an excellent time. So since then, year on year I have got a number of teams together spanning from 9-50+ years old, raising the awareness of Youth Talk and Windsor Lions, and without fail we have all experienced an energetic, healthy and fun day, and of course raised lots of money for two great causes!"
